Clay Soil and Water Conservation celebrated Earth Day 2016 in two very special ways. On 16 April we entertained over 240 people at Camp Chowenwaw Park. On 22 April we hosted the AFCD Area II meeting at the UF Agriculture Center. Soil and Water Representatives from 7 Counties were present and discussion and votes about future plans and adgenda were voted upon.
Before the main AFCD meeting there was a speech contest held and 7 students from 6 counties gave a speech about trees in which they were graded and the winner Christian Rodriguez from Live Oak was selected as the winner. Christian will compete at the Area II Annual meeting in Ocala in July. Clay County presented there speech contestant Trey Richardson from Oak Leaf High School and he received third place in the Area II speech contest.
